Enacting law to provide 75% jobs to locals in industries: Goutham Reddy
Nellore: Minister for Industries, and Information Technology M Goutham Reddy said that he would request Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to release Rs 12 crore for resolving drinking water crisis in the district. He reviewed with the district officials at ZP Conference Hall here on Tuesday and instructed them to prepare a clear action plan within 15 days to overcome the critical situation.
Goutham Reddy said that there has been 80 per cent deficit rainfall for the last 3 months and measures to be taken for facing the situation up to September. He assured people of taking permission for transporting water by railway wagons from Kandaleru reservoir to the villages and towns facing acute water shortage.
On the industrial front, the Minister said his government would support industrial promotion in the district and shortly they are going to bring a legislation for providing 75 per cent employment to the local unemployed. For the cause, he said, they had already constituted a sub-committee which would examine the feasibility issues.
Goutham Reddy said that they would conduct social audit in all 13 districts for taking action against irregularities in works under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
Reddy directed the officials to take back unused lands of Bharathi Fertilisers for whom the government earlier had provided 250 acres. In fact, he said, the unit utilised only 45 acres for its requirement and rest of the lands have been handed over to other industries.
District Collector MV Seshagiri Babu said they had given notices to the industrial organisations in the district to handover 2 per cent of funds under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He stated the government would take steps to collect the amount from them for utilising public needs.
Kovur legislator N Prasanna Kumar appealed to the Minister to get Rs 12 crore funds from the government for supplying drinking water to the needy areas. He requested the Minister to focus on stay of doctors in their working places as a girl died recently, who accidentally fell in borewell and could not get treatment in time due to unavailability of doctor in the hospital.
Udayagiri MLA M Chandrasekhar Reddy said there is no water for humans and animals in their constituency and asked to resolve the issue. Sullurpet legislator K Sanjeevaiah said that only 60 pc of SC/ST population are getting free power and asked to take measures to reach the programme to all eligible people.
He said drinking water to be supplied to rural areas too besides urban areas. He also asked to finalise sand policy for the benefit of working classes, who have relied on the activity for their livelihood. Joint Collector
