Academicians and engineers taking part in Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya’s birth anniversary celebrations at JNTU, Anantapur on Sunday

Anantapur: JNT University observed the Engineers Day on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, India's greatest engineer, here on Sunday.

Addressing engineers, JNTUA Vice-Chancellor S Sreenivasa Kumar garlanded the statue of Mokshagundam and paid rich tributes to him. He said that the university observes the birth annivesary of Sir Mokshagundam as Engineers Day. He is the greatest engineer the country had produced.

The Vice-Chancellor called upon engineers to draw inspiration from him and emulate him in their profession and be the kind of engineers the country can be proud of. He not only earned a world-wide fame but also is worshipped as father of engineering science.

Engineers play a crucial role in the social development and economy of the country, he said. Registrar Prof M Vijaya Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
