Eradicate Anaemia and Malnutrition: Jagan Mohan Reddy
Amaravati: The Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to eradicate anaemia and malnutrition among children in the state, during a review meeting on Midday meal, held at his residence at Tadepalli in Guntur district on Thursday.
Chief Minister discussed on issues of pregnant women, babies, mothers, and malnutrition in children. He inquired about the quality of food and facilities that were being provided to women, children, and schools.
Jagan learnt about the nutritious food that is being provided to pregnant women and children. He instructed the officials about the necessary modifications and developments that should be taken. He also discussed money transfer into the accounts.
Officials were asked to improve the quality of food being provided in the afternoon and establish 65 more centralized kitchens in cities. They also discussed providing one more food item to children in the schools, as part of the midday meal.
Renovation works in the schools will be commenced from November and will be completed by March 2020. Government is planning to develop 15,000 schools in the first phase.
'Don't compromise in providing facilities and developing infrastructure at the schools. We are ready to pay additional money if needed,' said Jagan.
Jagan ordered that uniforms and books should be provided to all schools, before the opening of the academic year. Ministers A Suresh and Taaneti Vanitha were present in the review meeting.
