Errant companies awarded irrigation works, alleges TDP Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy
Nellore: TDP district spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy alleged that the officials of Irrigation department have finalised tenders for the contractors who have earlier faced criminal actions and paid penalties.
Addressing media persons at the party office here on Saturday, he said, "We have provided proof for the complaints made by us. But the Minister ignored our objections. The mafia in irrigation works in the district is run by the supporters of the minister and the MLA,'' he charged. He said that the tenders are finalized by the local MLA in their own office and the department officials are asked to follow them and the other eligible competitors are ignored in the tendering process.
The recent tender allotment of the Malidevi Drain work to the tune of around Rs. 72 crore is a clear example, he said. Inquiry conducted on the works relating to three packages of Swarnamukhi river canals led to criminal prosecution of two companies BVSR constructions and RKN.
