Evaluation process now takes only 25 days in Andhra University
Visakhapatnam: Joseph Livingston was surprised to see a barcoded OMR sheet when he entered the hall to appear for his fifth semester.
Expressing happiness over the launch of the new method, he said, "We are pleasantly surprised to receive an auto-generated OMR sheets with barcodes, our name and hall ticket number details as our answer sheets. I am sure this will go a long way in reducing our stress in waiting for the results," shared the final year student of BA.
With Andhra University introducing the OMR-based evaluation system in the semester examinations, the new method not only brought cheer to Joseph but also to those who appeared for their exam at various centres on Thursday.
Delighted about the automated evaluation system, K Tejaswani, another final year student, said, "Even after the second semester, the results of the first semester would still be awaited. I am glad that this will not be the trend any longer."
Students, who came to write their exams in different centres, felt that the new system would help reduce their waiting period for results and aid in planning their future better. Earlier, it used to take about six to seven months for evaluation in the university and the time taken for re-evaluation was two years.
"However, this will not be the case any longer. The automated evaluation process aims at reducing the drudgery involved in entering the scores of the students manually and minimising the time consumed for the entire process.
The new method also puts an end to delayed results, making both the evaluation and re-evaluation processes error-free and declaring the results in 25 days from the date of the last examination," explained P V G D Prasad Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of AU.
Terming it a part of his pioneering reforms, the V-C further added that the new pattern intends to make life easy for students and block any scope for malpractice.
