Ex-MLA placed under house arrest in Giddalur
Giddalur: The Giddalur former MLA, Muthumula Ashok Reddy was put in house arrest by the local police officials on Tuesday evening to prevent him from participating in the 'Chalo Atmakur' programme, called by the former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
The town CI U Sudhakar Rao and his personnel informed Ashok Reddy that they are keeping him under house arrest to prevent law and order issues at Giddalur and also in Guntur district due to him.
The Prakasam district TDP president and former Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan is in Bengaluru for his business trip, while Chirala MLA Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy and Parchuru MLA Eluru Sambasiva Rao are in Hyderabad and expected to reach Guntur on Wednesday early morning to participate in the protest along with Chandrababu Naidu.
The Addanki MLA Gottipati Ravi Kumar is on a foreign trip but the Kondapi MLA Dr Dola Balaveeranjaneya Swamy is available at his residence locally. He and other prominent leaders in the district are expected to be house arrested from 09.00 PM on Tuesday evening, as per the sources in the police intelligence department.
In the meantime, the TDP general secretary, Nara Lokesh phoned Ashok Reddy and enquired about the house arrest. He told Ashok Reddy that the house arrests of leaders are undemocratic and announced that the party will continue to fight the government.
