Exchange of fire in Visakha Agency area

Visakhapatnam: In an encounter with the police forces, five Maoists were reported to be killed at GK Veedhi mandal, Visakhapatnam district on Sunday.

Incidentally, a year before, Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and fomer MLA Siveri soma were shot dead by the Maoists.

While the Maoists are observing 'Revolutionary week' from Saturday, the police acted based on a tip-off received about the Maoists' movement at Madigamallu area under Gummarevula panchayat.

Sources said the encounter lasted for about 30 minutes before some of the Maoists fled from the place.
