Nellore: An exclusive industrial park for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is being established in the backward Atmakur region in the district shortly. The AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has earmarked 87.59 acres of land for the park at Narampeta village close to Atmakur town.

An MSME dealing with main parts for railway wagons and another unit producing machine tools at Bengaluru are showing interest to set up their units in the proposed park. Industries and IT Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy is representing the constituency and the Park is his brainchild who had assured to set up an exclusive industrial park in the constituency for providing employment to the local jobless.

In fact, Atmakur and Udayagiri constituencies are backward regions where the presence of industrial organizations is practically zero. Moreover, the drought-prone areas have been facing difficulties in many sectors and the minister had planned the Industrial Park for the development of the region.

Officials are expecting negotiations would start after the lockdown for initiating the units there. Officials of the APIII are planning to provide basic infrastructure to the park such as roads, drains, water and power on a war-footing basis for showcasing the area.

They are also taking special care on the water supply without any hassles round the year for the industrial units, though the area is facing water scarcity.

The MSME Park is open for all kinds of units and the Minister is likely to lay the foundation stone for the park on June 8 in connection with completion of one year in the office as Minister. Local leaders are also expressing happiness over considering their region as an important one on par with Tada, Naidupet, Kodavalur, Gudur, and Muthukur areas where industrial units were set up in a huge number.
