Faculty development programme begins at JNTU-K

Kakinada: A two-day-long faculty development programme with the theme 'Engineering Exploration Project' under the aegis of the Faculty Development Center (FDC) Directorate at JNTU-K began here on Thursday.

Rector Prof Shanthi Prabha said that the engineering exploration project was included in R-19 curriculum to strengthen engineering education. It was designed as a design-oriented course whereby students gain a good grip on the subject matter, research and exploration.

OSD Prof Ravindranath said that in modern times, engineering colleges have to adapt their curriculum to the suit industry and provide students with hands-on practical knowledge to solve many difficult problems.

He said that India will be in the forefront of research, if engineering students find solutions to research and solve many elusive problems in rural areas through social engineering course.

Prof Ravindranath said that educators should continuously improve their skills and teaching methods to help students cope with the challenges of globalization. Students can easily address the challenges in industries where the classroom and industry are interconnected, and the faculty should guide students towards that.

FDC Director Prof GVSR Deekshitulu said that R-19 curriculum was designed to make students interested in innovation and to meet the challenges of globalisation. He said that the curriculum was designed to promote innovation, creativity, logical and secular thinking, because instructors need to make sure that students have a grip on innovation thinking, IoT, design thinking so that to meet the challenges of the future.
