Fair polls in Andhra Pradesh unlikely said BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayana

Guntur: BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana on Wednesday alleged that local body elections are not being conducted in a fair and peaceful manner in the state. Addressing a press conference here, he said the YSRCP activists are obstructing the opposition party candidates from filing their nominations.

He said the law and order had collapsed in the State. "The YSRCP-led government has made Andhra Pradesh another Bihar in respect of law and order," he said.

He challenged the YSRCP government to conduct the elections without money and liquor.

He recalled that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy warned the Ministers and the MLAs to work for victory of the party candidates in the local body elections or else they would lose their posts. He alleged the police office are acting at the directions of the YSRCP leaders.

He alleged that the YSRCP activists are threatening the BJP candidates and their family members.

He recalled that Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, when he was the Leader of Opposition, demanded CBI inquiry into the Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder, saying that he had no confidence in AP police. Now, he said he has full confidence in the same police.

BJP State secretary A Siva Nagendra Rao, party leaders P Ravi Kumar, N Suresh were among those participated.
