Chittoor: Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his Sankalpa Yatra in the district eight months ago, promised that his Government would revive Chittoor Cooperative Dairy and Chittoor Cooperative Sugar Factory. It was estimated that Rs 500 cr would be needed to revive the defunct cooperative units.

Chittoor MLA A Srinivasulu already submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister to initiate steps for the revival of the units. But, surprisingly, Chief Minister had allocated just Rs 100 cr in the Budget for reviving the cooperative units across the state. With this meagre allocation, not even one unit could be revived, it is felt.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday , District Farmers Union chief Venkatachalam Naidu decried that Jagan Mohan Reddy has failed to keep up his promise. "The Chittoor Cooperative dairy was closed in 2002 due to mismanagement of the administrators. There were 12,400 share holders in the dairy.

It's liabilities have crossed over Rs.240 cr. It will be needed Rs 300 cr to revive the unit, he said. Former Chittoor Cooperative Sugar Factory Chairman N P Ramakrishna recalled that Chief Minister has to keep up his promise for reviving Chittoor Coop Sugar Factory.
