Farmers protest over Anantapur-Amaravati highway

Guntur: Opposing Anantapuram- Amaravati Express Highway, the leaders of various farmers associations on Tuesday protested at Collectorate here. "If the highway is laid, the forests and agriculture in thousands of acres will disappear. As a result, green coverage will reduce in the state," they said.

The protesters observed fast. Addressing the gathering, Samajika Udyamakarula Ikyavedika convener Kolla Rajamohan felt that there is no use of the highway and urged the government to withdraw the proposal. He said that they protested to take their demand to the notice of the government.
