Fifth phase of free ration distribution to poor begins in Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh government led by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has started the process of distributing the free ration to all ration cardholders in the state as part of fifth installments. Each cardholder will be provided with PDS rice along with 1 kg of cane at 5kg Dal. The ration is distributed through 28,354 ration shops across the state following the terms and conditions of COVID-19. Time-slot coupons have been issued by the stores to distribute the ration.
Ration shipments will reportedly be made available to the beneficiaries in a biometric manner. The government's decision will benefit 1,48,05,879 families across the state. Officials said sanitizers are available at all ration shop counters.
So far, the Andhra Pradesh government has distributed free ration to the poor in four installments amid lockdown imposed due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
