Fill all tanks to avoid water shortage: Collector

Narsapuram: Collector Praveen Kumar has directed the officials to fill the tanks to the fullest capacity with Godavari water to meet the drinking water needs during summer. He reviewed drinking water supply with officials of Rural Water Supply, Irrigation and Panchayat Raj here on Wednesday.

The Collector asked the officials to take advance measures to ensure proper drinking water supply in the district with adequate planning. In case of any technical problems, the officials should arrange for supply of drinking water through tankers. The pipelines should be inspected from time to time and repairs should be completed at the earliest, if necessary.

He asked the officials to be alert during summer to avoid any interruptions in drinking water supply. They should keep available staff to attend repairs to motors. Stating that 2,000 cusecs of water being released from River Godavari, all the 254 tanks should be filled with the river water before supply to canals is stopped. He asked the officials to arrange drinking water kiosks in all public places and take help of NGOs, if necessary to help people quench their thirst when they are outdoor.
