Finally, gas leakage in Uppudi village of East Godavari has come to control
Finally, the Gas leakage at Uppudi in Katrenikona Mandal of East Godavari district has come to control. The Blowout control team from Mumbai has stalled the gas leakage with Mud Pumping technique on Tuesday. The gas leakage at Uppudi is continued for two consecutive days from Sunday, creating panic in the villagers. Despite several trials to stall the leakage, the ONGC officials have failed in their attempts on Monday.
However, a specialised team from Mumbai continued the rescue operations on Tuesday. After making three attempts to bring down the gas leakage, the experts have stopped the leakage by implementing water pumping technology. Water pumping was carried out continuously into a gas well of 2.2 km depth. Eventually, gas leakage was brought under control within an hour.
Earlier, authorities had evacuated houses within 2 km of the site because of the gas leakage, and Power supply was also discontinued yesterday.
