Fire Accident occurs At Srisailam Hydroelectric Power Plant: 5 Lakhs Rupees loss

A fire broke out at first Generator break Pads at Srisailam hydroelectric Power plant in the late hours on Wednesday. The incident took place at the right quadrant of the dam, which prevented the generation of 110 MW current from the power plant. A short circuit was suspected to have led to the fire and the officials have responded well in bringing down the fire and prevented the excess loss. The loss is reportedly RS 25 lakh.

On the other hand due to the excess rains, the flow towards Srisailam reservoir is increasing and the gates were lifted to release the 27,983 cusecs of water into the dam. this is happened to be the third time to lift the gates in recent past where about 100591 cusec inflow and 105691 cusecs outflow is recorded in last three months. The right quadrant of the Srisailam dam is releasing water of 2400 cusecs to Kalwakurthy lift irrigation project while 2026 cusec and 5000 cusecs of water were released to Handri-Neeva and Pothireddypadu respectively.
