Flood water levels on rise as rains continue in AP

Amaravati: The flood water levels have been raising across the Godavari Riverin areas, as it has been continuously getting floods due to the heavy downpour in the upper catchment areas. At present, the water level at Bhadhrachalam in Telangana was more than 41.6 ft by Monday morning.

The officials at AP Disaster Management Authority have informed that the first warning would be issued here after the water reaches up to 43 ft, the second warning at the level of 48 and the third warning at 53 ft. Officials estimate that the first warning to be issued in the afternoon.

When it comes to the next point of Bhadrachalam, Chintur in Andhra Pradesh, the present level is 39.13 m and the first warning level is 41.5 m. Water crossed the first warning level at Kunavaram in the state. The first warning issued at the water level of 37.74 m, but the water crossed the level of 37.94 m. Officials informed that the danger level at this area is 39.24 m.

At the Polavaram, the water reached to 27.9 m by this morning and the inflow is continuing in the river.

At Dowleswaram barrage, the inflow is estimated as 12,80,861 cs and out flow is 12,80,861 cs. The discharge warnings at this barrage are; 1 warning at 10,00,000 cs, 2 warning at 13,00,000 and the third warning at 17,00,000 cs. By now, the authorities withdrew second warning and continuing first warning at Dowleswaram.

There is a chance of attaining the 2nd warning level in next 12 hr, as about 9L cs of flood water is released from Medigedda barrage into Godavari at 8 pm on August 4, source at Irrigation Department at Dowleswaram informed.
