Floral tributes paid to Harikatha doyen in Tirupati
Tirupati: The TTD grandly observed on Thursday the 155th birth anniversary of Ajjada Adibhatla Narayana Das, the doyen of Harikatha, a Hindu traditional form of religious discourse.
Marking the occasion, the students and faculty members led by TTD SV College of Music and Dance Principal YVS Padmavathi paid floral tribute to the statue of Narayana Das on the college premises followed by devotional group singing by the students and faculty
members.
Head of Harikatha wing Simhachala Shastri said that Narayana Das a versatile genius of Andhra Pradesh with his outstanding contribution for popularising the traditional Harikatha is remembered for ever as an exponent of Harikatha. Later, in the evening under the aegis of Music College, cultural programmes were held in Mahati Auditorium.
A documentary was also presented by Dr G Devarajulu on the life and achievement of Narayana Das, as a poet, musician, linguist and philosopher while the troupe of M Purna, Bhagavatakaruni of Tirupati performed Sita Kalyanam and Harikatha Ganam.
