Forest personnel pay tributes to martyrs in Kadapa
Kadapa: Forest department organised Martyrs Commemoration Day across the district on Sunday. In Kadapa, Forest department staff assembled in big numbers at District Forest Office and paid rich tributes to the martyrs.
District Forest Officer Siva Prasad and other officials participated in the event. While in Prodduturu, Divisional Forest Officer K Guruprasad, along with his team, participated in the programme and paid rich tribute martyrs of the department.
On the occasion, Guru Prasad said that the event has been organised every 10th November since 1991 in memory of IPS Officer P Srinivas who was killed in the hands of notorious sandal wood smuggler Veerappan.
He said as many as 16 forest department officials working in various capacities were killed during combing operations. Forest watcher K Ashok and Sridhar and David were killed in separate in incidents, he said.
