Former intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao moves CAT against the govt over his suspension
Former intelligence chief of Andhra Pradesh AB Venkateswara Rao approached the CAT (Central Administrative Tribunal), over his suspension. In his petition, he said it was illegal for the AP government to suspend him. ABV alleged the government of harassing him since May 31 last year and sought CAT issue stay on his suspension as the allegations are levelled due to political reasons.
DGP submitted a report that the former intelligence chief was involved in irregularities in the purchase of surveillance equipment. The AP government has said that disciplinary action is being taken to that extent directing him not to leave the headquarters of Vijayawada without government permission during the suspension.
AB Venkateswara Rao was the Intelligence Chief during the previous TDP government while he transferred by Election Commission from the post before the last assembly elections following the complaint of YSRCP.
