Four dead and eight injured in a tragic accident in Prakasam
Podili: A group of people, most of them are family members hails from Ballari met with a gruesome accident at Kothapalli village of Konakanamitla mandal in the early morning on Thursday. Four people of the same family have died on the spot and three are severely injured as their vehicle was hit by a transport lorry.
According to the Podili CI E Sriram, the victims are travelling to Patimeedapalem village of Chimakurthy mandal to console their relatives over the death of a family member. They started in Ballari in a Toofan vehicle with registered number KA 37M 7965 on Wednesday evening and are about to reach their destination in an hour. But a transport lorry with a load of plywood boards carrying from Chennai to Markapuram was lost control by the driver and suddenly took to the right side of the road and hit the passenger vehicle.
The police identified the deceased as Siddampalli Hemanth Reddy of 60 years, Chetlapalli Sugunamma of 60 years, Uddatti Hamsamma of 55 years and Ballari Suneetha of 27 years. They rushed the injured to the community health centre in Podili but later shifted them to KIMS Hospital in Ongole for better treatment.
The CI Sriram said that the lorry driver went asleep for a moment and lost control over the vehicle. He announced that they booked a case on the lorry driver and started investigating the case. He said that the bodies of the victims will be handed over to their relatives after the post mortem is completed.
