Funds for Polavaram only after audit is completed, Union Minister answers Vijayasai Reddy's question in Rajya Sabha

In respect to the Andhra Pradesh government's request for the release of Rs 3,222.75 crore for the construction of Polavaram project, the central govt has replied that the release of funds will be done only after completion of the audit. The Energy minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said on Monday, during the Zero hour in Rajya Sabha when Vijayasai Reddy raised the question.

The minister asserted that the Finance Ministry is conducting an audit on the expenditure of Rs. 5000 crores issued before the project has got National status. The audit has been completed for Rs 3000 crore so far, hence the finance ministry is said to be releasing the funds to that extent.
