Fusion PET-CT launched in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Dr Srikanth Suryanarayana, Wipro GE South India head inaugurated Fusion PET-CT, a unit of Amaravathi Cancer Treatment Private Limited. The advanced Positron Emission Tomography – Computed Tomography (PET-CT) was launched near New Government Hospital junction, Mahanadu road here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Suryaprakash, Nuclear Physician said that the new advanced PET-CT is useful to diagnose cancer disease, and the stages of cancer which will enable the doctor to treat the patient. The machine would also diagnose how the patient is responding to the treatment.
The PET-CT machine would also diagnose heart and brain related ailments. The scanner can be used for diagnosing nervous system disorders such as Parkinsonism, a condition that causes movement abnormalities similar to those seen in Parkinson's disease, said Dr Suryaprakash.
Cancer specialist K Rajesh, Dr Prasanth, Dr Indira Rani, Dr Vikranth Kumar, industrialist P Dhanaprakash and others were present on the occasion.
