Ganja gang busted, 7 held in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The task force police arrested seven-member gang including two foreigners and seized 2.50 kg ganja and other drugs, eight mobile phones and a Vespa scooter. The gang is targeting the students studying in various educational institutions in Vijayawada and Guntur.

Speaking to media here on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner of Police V Harshan Vardhan Raju said that the two foreigners were from Tanjania and Sudan and they settled near Vaddeswaram, Guntur district.

The accused have been identified as Ananta Kumar of Kanuru, Vijayawada, Yoja Liswa of Tanzania, Mohammed Rasul of Sudan, Kandula Srikanth of Krishna lanka, Vijayawada, Aravapalli Sri Maruti of Poranki, Manne Hemanth of Patamata, Vijayawada and Shaik Samdani of Tadigadapa, Vijayawada.

The three accused Anant Kumar, Sri Maruti, Hemanth Raj and Shaik Subhani purchase drugs from Mohammed Rasul, a resident of Vaddeswaram, Guntur district and Kandula Srikanth at Rs 2,000-Rs 2,500 per gram and been selling at Rs 4,000 per gram. The four-member gang also exchange the drugs and ganja with other accused.

They purchase ganja from the agency areas of Visakhapatnam district and give it to Rasul and Srikanth. The accused Rasul and Srikanth had purchase drugs in Bengaluru. Saina Anantakumar is the school dropout in 2009 and went to Hyderabad to learn animation course. He is the master mind behind the drugs and ganja peddling.

He came from Hyderabad to Penamaluru and was also accused in a murder case. Kumar formed a group with some others and been involved in ganja and drugs peddling.
