Gas leakage has not yet in control at Uppidi, villagers evacuated from Katrenikona
The gas leak at Katrenikona Zone in Uppidi of East Godavari district has not yet come under control till Monday afternoon. With the pressure of the leakage is high, officials have set up rehabilitation centre at Cheyyar ZP School for Uppidi villagers. The police are taking measures to prevent anybody from entering the village of Uppidi.
As per the reports, there has been a leakage due to high-pressure gas leakage from a rig well which was previously maintained by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). Then people who were in panic expressed their outrage against ONGC and complained to police on Sunday. However, The ONGC officials say it has nothing to do with the gas leak incident.

With the pressure of the leakage is still high on Monday, the officials have evacuated the villagers from the spot to rehabilitation centres set up at ZO school and also stopped the power supply at Uppidi.

However, it is learnt that 40-personnel team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the 40-personnel team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the 40-personnel team of ONGC, 50-member police and 50-member firefighter team has been deployed to control the situation.
