Gautam Sawang takes charge as AP new DGP

Mangalagiri: IPS officer Gautam Sawang has been appointed as fifth DGP of Navya Andhra Pradesh. He has taken the charge at DGP office in Mangalagiri on Saturday.

The top police officials have congratulated new DGP Gautam Sawang with flower bouquets at the office.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP Sawang said that the protection of law and order in the state will be given top priority and will work together with service motto.

YS Jagan's government has decided to hand over the full additional charges of new DGP to senior IPS officer Gautam Sawang. He will also continue as Vigilance and Enforcement DG.

The state government has issued two GO's regarding the transfer of four IPS officers on Thursday night.

The 1986 batch IPS officer Gautam Sawang was born on 10th July 1963. He was first posted as Madanapalle ASP in Chittoor district. Later he worked as SP in Chittoor and Warangal districts. In 2001 - 2003 he served as DG Warangal Range. Earlier he also worked as DG Home Guard department.

In the last year 1st July, RP Thakur has taken charge as AP DGP. He has continued in the post for 11 months. In his place, now Gautam Sawang takes charge as new DGP.

RP Thakur who worked as DGP was transferred as commissioner, printing, stationery, and stores purchase.

Kumar Vishwajeet, Additional Director General, Intelligence, was given full additional charge as Director General, ACB.

AB Venkateswara Rao, who was DG Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) was directed to report to the General Administration Department for further posting.
