GITAM to monitor UK-based mega research project on MSMEs

Visakhapatnam: To facilitate small and medium sized enterprises to achieve greater sustainability through circular economy approach, UK Government under the initiative of Newton Fund and prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering has sanctioned a mega research project to GITAM Deemed to be University. GITAM Deemed to be University, AP, Aston Business School, UK and Jadavpur University, India jointly work on this project.

GITAM School of International Business Prof N Sai Sudhakar is going to lead the project along with Prof Raja P Pappu, GITAM Institute of Technology Prof M R S Satyanarayana, Aston University (UK) Prof Prasanta Dey and Prof Sadhan Kumar Ghosh of Jadavpur University.

While informing the project, Prof N Sai Sudhakar mentioned that the study will first reveal the state of circular economy practices and performance, issues and challenges, best practices, and constructs for circular economy adoption in study locations using the Delphi technique including cross country comparison. Secondly, six case studies will be undertaken in each country using process re-engineering framework and will derive the enablers for adopting circular economy in each participating SME across take, make, distribute, use and recover processes of the individual SMEs supply chain, he added.

He said that the project will also develop circular economy performance measurement models using structure equation modelling, data envelopment analysis and the analytic network process; validated through applications within the participating SMEs.
