GMC to set up 15 mw power plant in 6 months: Srikesh

Guntur: Municipal Corporation Commissioner Srikesh B Lathkar explained problems in the local bodies and steps to be taken to resolve the problems.

Addressing an International symposium conducted by the United Nations International Organization in Sao Paulo in Brazil on Thursday on behalf of Ministry of Urban Development on 'Problems in local bodies, steps to be taken to check air pollution and to protect the environment' through the power point presentation, he said the GMC has taken steps to set up 15 MW power plant with the garbage generated in the city which will come into operation within six months.

He added the GMC will get garbage from Tadepalli, Chilakaluripet, Nasaraopet, Sattenapalli, Mangalagiri, Tenali and Ponnur municipalities. He said if the power plant will come into operation, representatives from various countries will visit waste to energy plant. He said because of this symposium, they will discuss problems in various civic bodies and take suitable decisions to resolve the problems.
