Good days ahead for play troupes, says Kailasa Rao
Vijayawada: "God has given me opportunity to share my time for three important aspects in my life-- teaching my passion, cultural activities my hobby and service to society my self-satisfaction," said Dr D Kailasa Rao, an educationalist, philanthropist and also art lover based in capital city Vijayawada.
Rao, 65-year-old professor is currently working in NRI College. He was born to Jagannatham and Rangamma and brought up in Srikakulam district. He was influenced by his friends in his childhood and started acting in plays. He first acted as lady on stage and received appreciations from the audience.
Since then, he was fascinated towards stage and continued till now. He acted in many plays like Chudu chudu needalu, Kshantavyulu, Varudu Kavali, All out for no loss, Manavudu, Edemiti, Sesha Prasna, Premasamadhi, Adi Sankaracharya, Kshetrayya and also rendered technical support to many dramas like Darpanopakhyanam, Kalaratri, Varavikrayam, NGO and Viswasanthi.
He also worked as coordinator for intercollegiate competitions for more than 16 years and received appreciations both from student segment and also from Sarada College administration. Presently he is the joint secretary for Sumadhura Kala Niketan.
Kailasa Rao did MA in economics, MBA, M Phil and Pd D from Andhra and Nagarjuna Universities. He started his career as lecturer in Syed Appalaswamy College and later shifted to Sarada Degree College. After superannuation he joined in NRI College.
"I would like to continue in this teaching profession till my last breath," said Kailasa Rao emotionally. Dr Rao received prestigious awards like best teacher award, Mahatma Gandhi gold medal, Abdul Kalam gold medal, Andhra Ratna Award and Life time achievement award. Kailasarao attended international conference three times in USA to submit papers on global economy and also three times in India.
While referring to his wife Vasudhara Devi, Kailasa Rao said that she also did post graduation in economics and worked as lecturer in Sarada College and also complimented that she is the part of his success both in career and also in his activities. The couple is blessed with one son and two daughters.
When coming to service, Kailasa Rao is the zonal chairperson for Lions Club of International. He said that he organised about 100 service activities during his presidential term in that club. He also renders service to public as president for Kapu Officials and Professionals Association, Krishna district.
On present state of theatre, Dr Kailasa Rao opined that there is no hard work and dedication in most of the teams. He also quoted his experience as scrutiny judge for a parishad organised recently in Vijayawada that the standards of some troupes are very far to achieve their goals.
He confidently said that the drama has contributed much in his teaching career to explain the subject interestingly to his students. He is hoping for best dramas in the coming days with young and dynamic theatre persons to make the future fertile.
