Government failed to supply food packets, water to flood victims: TDP chief

Guntur: TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu said that farmers cultivating horticulture crops have suffered a loss of Rs 3,000 crore due to crop damage caused by recent floods. He demanded the government to pay compensation to the flood-hit farmers. He interacted with the TDP leaders at the party state party office here on Thursday.

Speaking on this occasion, the former chief minister flayed that YSRCP government has failed to supply sufficient drinking water, food packets to the flood victims in the camps. He further said that power supply was not restored in some flood affected colonies in rural areas. He said that during his visit, he had witnessed the problems of flood victims in the flood affected villages in Krishna -Guntur districts.

He further said floods rendered thousands of people homeless and criticised that in the upstream of river, floods are natural calamities, in the downstream of Krishna river, floods are manmade calamities and alleged that the government has failed to manage the flood water.

He demanded the government to pay compensation to the farmers whose agriculture crops were damaged due to floods, similarly compensation to the houses damaged due to floods.

He said, "I will write a letter to the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in this regard.''
