Government gives top priority to inclusive growth: CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Andhra Pradesh was the only state which has given top priority to social engineering.

Speaking at the 129th death anniversary of social reformer Jyotirao Phule, the Chief Minister said he was watching the developments in Maharashtra and even in such a big state, they have decided to have only one deputy chief minister while the YSRCP has made five of its leaders as Deputy Chief Ministers.

He said the government had allocated 50 per cent nominated posts to BCs, SCs, STs and minorities in the state. Jagan said the backward classes are the backbone of society and they deserve support from the government and added that the government is committed for the development of weaker sections.

He said Jyotirao Phule died in 1890 and till now the people are still remembering his services and reforms he has made in society. Jagan said Phule had encouraged his wife Savitri to get education and supported her to work as a teacher. He said the state government is emulating the ideals of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Phule.

Referring to the policies of the state government, Jagan said YSRCP announced BC declaration in Eluru before the elections and promised for the uplift and development of backward classes in the state.

Giving an example of nominated posts, Jagan said in Krishna district 10 nominated posts were given to BCs, SCs, STs and minorities against total 19 posts in the marketing committees in Krishna district. He said Rs15,000 crore allotted for the welfare and development of backward classes in the budget.

Jagan said the government has taken a decision to implement English medium education with objective of helping poor children learn English and pursue education in English medium. He said all those who are opposing English medium education were sending their children to English medium schools.

He said Amma Vodi scheme will be launched on January 9 and infrastructure facilities will be developed in all government schools in three years. He said the government will give financial assistance to auto drivers and farmers.
