Government is committed to waive SHG loans: Minister Peddireddy

Chittoor: The YSRCP government has fulfilled 80 per cent promises of the Navaratnalu assurances, said Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy while addressing a public meeting in Pulicherla mandal on Saturday.

The Minister made it clear that his government is committed to waive Rs 27,800 crore loans of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the State. Already, Rs 1,800 crore on interest of SHG loans had waived, he said.

Peddireddy mentioned that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy alone had offered 50 per cent ministerial berths to Kapu, BC, SC, ST and Minorities. The Minister assured to people that the State government would implement 100 per cent fee reimbursement for students of BC, SC, ST and Minorities.

He recalled several minority students have become doctors and engineers due to the assistance from the government. He criticised the TDP government for miserably failing to protect the interests of BC sections in the State. Earlier, the Minister distributed the assets to beneficiaries in Somala mandal.
