Government keen on completing Chintalapudi: MP K Sridhar

Eluru: MP K Sridhar has said that they would complete Chintalapudi lift irrigation project by taking it as a challenge. Reviewing the project here on Thursday, he said that the state government has sanctioned Rs 720 crore as Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is giving top priority to irrigation project.

The government wants to keep farmers happy and would find a way to steer clear problems plagued the project implementation. The main obstacle for the project was from farmers as there was dissimilarity in payment of compensation apart from pending cases in courts.

The government would soon conduct a meeting with the farmers to clear hurdles for the project. Chintalapudi MLA P Eliza said that 75 per cent of the project was completed and the Chief Minister has also assured to sanction funds necessary for early completion of the project.

Mylavaram MLA Vasanta Krishna Prasad said attempt should be made to fill the gap in compensation sought by farmers and compensation paid by the government. A few farmers who attended the meeting also expressed their views on the execution of the project.
