Government plans to set up drinking water kiosks
Eluru: Keeping in view drinking water needs for travellers, pedestrians and people moving outdoor, the government will open drinking water kiosks, said West Godavari District Collector Praveen Kumar here on Sunday. He inaugurated a Chalivendram funded by Dr BR Ambedkar Study Circle at Ameenapet.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector called upon philanthropists, NGOs and others to fund liberally for setting up water kiosks in public places. He said as part of government initiative to set up the kiosks, the Eluru Municipal Corporation would start many drinking water kiosks at different places in the city.
Earlier, he garlanded the statue of Ambedkar and paid tributes to him. He said education is the key for uplift of poor families. He urged the study centre to help SC unemployed educated candidates get employment by imparting training.
SC Employees Welfare Association should also take initiative for improving lives of many SCs who remained unemployed despite education. SC government employees should also come forward in achieving the task. He said that the government had already allocated Rs 5 crore for building of the study circle and works would start soon.
The study circle secretary, D Ramesh Babu said that the centre so far imparted competitive test coaching to about 1000 candidates belonging to SC, ST, BCs and as many as 88 candidates secured government jobs.
