Government to give top priority to skill development: Minister A Suresh

Kakinada: Minister for Education A Suresh has said the state government as per the assurances given during assembly polls will give top priority for skill development and start centers for excellence by taking one parliamentary constituency as a unit.

Addressing media persons at JNTU-K after declaring open several development programmes on the university premises at a cost of Rs 20 crore on Wednesday evening, the Minister said the JNTU-K should be in the forefront and should be a guiding force in the implementation of this programme.

Elaborating on the issue, the Minister said the students under R&D would be provided with the required training and in turn they should develop leadership qualities and take up research for development of innovative skills. All this process should pave the way for employment generation in large scale in industrial sector, the Minister observed.

In this connection, the Minister advocated that not only private and deemed universities, but also the universities in government sector should strive for international recognition. The education minister strongly advocated that apart from JNTU-K, Venkateswara and Andhra University also should be in the forefront in getting international recognition.

Later, the Minister addressed the students and faculty at the alumni auditorium. Minister for Social Welfare P Viswaroop, JNTU-K Vice-Chancellor Prof M Ramalinga Raju, rector Prof Santi Prabha, registrar VV Subba Rao, Kakinada MP Vanga Geeta, MLA D Chandrasekara Reddy and others participated.
