Amaravati: Government will fight on Polavaram Hydro project in High Court, says Water Resources Minister

Amaravati: The Minister for Water Resources P Anil Kumar Yadav stated that the government would not leave the issue of reverse tendering on the Polavaram Hydro Electric Project and it would fight in the court. In a press release issued here on Thursday, he maintained that the state government has decided to reduce the financial burden on the public exchequer through reverse tendering and it could be implemented in this project also, after due legal procedure.

Anil Kumar hoped that the High Court would consider the state government's spirit in its final verdict. He said that in the Polavaram Hydel Electric Project also, the government aimed to reduce the cost through reverse tendering. He said that the Navayuga Engineering Company itself accepted that they did not complete the works as per the terms and conditions of the contract agreement. Government brought the failure of the company to the court, he added.

The Minister informed that the government also explained to the court that the tenders were quoted with excess money and that could be reduced.
