Governor flags off mobile dental unit in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan flagged off a mobile dental care unit, an initiative by Child Welfare Committee of Vijayawada in association with Dr Sreedhar Reddy, chairman of Dr Sridhar Oral Health Foundation at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of BVS Kumar, chairman of Child Welfare Committee and Dr Sreedhar Reddy for their initiative to offer dental care to orphan and semi-orphan children staying at various Child Care institutions in Vijayawada and other places in the district.
BVS Kumar, chairman of Child Welfare Committee, explained to the Governor how they rescue orphan children and child labour and rehabilitate them by providing them shelter at 92 child care institutions located in various places Krishna district.
He said that the dental care programme for orphan children will go on for three months covering all the child care institutions in the district offering necessary examination and treatment and providing clips costing around Rs 2,000 wherever required.
Mukesh Kumar Meena, Secretary to Governor, Arjuna Rao, Joint Secretary to Governor and other officials of Raj Bhavan were also present on the occasion.
