Govt. will strengthen the Higher Education in Andhra Pradesh: Adimulapu Suresh
Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Dr Adimulapu Suresh said on Tuesday that the government is giving priority for strengthening the universities in the state. It was revealed that an executive council has been set up in each university. Vice-chancellors have been appointed for nine universities and search committees have been set up for three universities. He said efforts were being made towards better results without political interference in educational institutions.
Speaking at a media conference in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Minister Suresh said, "We are paying full fee reimbursement to those who are eligible for higher education." He said that the second installment of Amma Vodi will start on the 11th of this month. "We are spending Rs 11,000 crore in three tranches and have set up a Higher Education Planning Board like nowhere else in the country," he said.
'We are strengthening higher education in collaboration with the Central and State Governments. Showcause notices were issued to 247 colleges that did not comply with the regulations and have taken action against 48 private unaided degree colleges. Action will be taken against colleges that do not meet the quality standards," minister said.
He said that the process of online admissions has started in this new academic year and will start online admissions in Inter from next year. The government is conducting a Rapid Education Survey in Higher Education and are launching three new courses this academic year and would be launching a five year post graduation course and four year integrated B.Ed course and also introducing a new one year PG course for a four year Honours degree. This year, we will further strengthen the higher education sector and become number one in the country. '
