GPS mapping underway for essentials distribution in Nellore

Nellore: Ration cardholders can heave a sigh of relief as the district administration is making elaborate arrangements for distributing the essential commodities through door delivery system from January and the GPS Mapping is underway.

As a result, the cardholder can get rice and other material from any dealer across the district based on their location.

People needn't visit the ration store personally and fall on huge queue lines. They can get them at their doorstep and in case, they move to some other place, they just have to inform the local volunteer for GPS mapping that enables ration supply between 1 and 10 every month, officials say.

Now, in many mandals, volunteers are visiting the houses of cardholders for the mapping in four categories such as green, blue, brown, and white. Out of 9.33 lakh rice cards in the district, around 6.70 lakh have been completed so far. The interesting part is that the cardholders get an SMS from the Grama Sachivalayam about the day and time when they will be supplying the stocks at home.

The prior communication makes the people happy that they can depute someone at home for receiving the ration without fail. Officials are also planning to distribute essentials during morning and evening hours giving no troubles to the poor who normally visit workplaces. They weigh the material in the presence of the cardholder while distributing the material. Every rice bag will have a QR code and the officials say there would be no chance for tampering or misusing the stocks.

There are around 1,900 ration shops in the entire district and the civil supplies officials are speeding up the GPS mapping and other formalities. BC Corporation is providing vehicle loans to unemployed youth with the subsidy for supplying rice at the doorsteps. They have to approach local Sachivalayam for submitting their applications.
