Grama Sabhas in Veligonda submerging villages from today

Markapuram: The Markapuram RDO, M Seshireddy announced that the grama sabhas will be held in the submerging villages due to Veligonda project to distribute the rehabilitation and resettlement package.

Seshireddy along with special deputy collector Chandraleela visited the villages Gundamcharla, Sunkesula, and Kalanuthala in Peddaraveedu mandal on Sunday to make the arrangements for the village level meetings.

The locals, who are demanding enhancement of the package have resisted the conduct of the meetings and obstructed the arrangements on Saturday.

So, the officials visited the villages on Sunday and tried to pacify the agitating villagers. The RDO explained to them that the government has taken the necessary initiative to complete the project on a war footing and has approved to provide the R&R package to the oustees.

He said that the government is ready to give Rs 12.50 lakh as one-time settlement or Rs 3.99 lakh along with the constructed house in the settlement colony.

He asked the public to clearly understand what officials are saying first and then they can decide. He said that obstructing the meetings is not a good thing for them, but advised them to give their objections in written format so that they could forward them to the government. He requested the cooperation of the people for conducting the gramasabhas smoothly from Monday.

The Peddaraveedu tahsildar Umarani, YSRCP mandal president Palireddi Krishnareddy and the people from submerging villages participated in the meeting with RDO and SDC.
