Grama volunteers of Chirala move High Court over training
Prakasam: The recruitment of Grama Volunteers in Prakasam district has knocked the door of AP high court. The AP government has appointed the volunteers as the bridges to take the welfare schemes close to the people.
Candidates were selected with the written test and interview across the state. But these selection has created conflicts between the TDP and YCP activists in the district.
The 86 candidates who wrote the Grama Volunteer exam under Chirala constituency have approached the court, where they have filed a petition stating that in spite of their selection for Grama volunteer post, the officials have not allowed them to attend the training classes.
Over the hearing on Friday, Justice M Venkata Ramana has issued notices to Prakasam district Collector, Chirala and Vetapalem MPDO.
Petitioner's lawyer said to the court that 86 candidates names were announced in the selected list of volunteers and placed them on the notice board at the MPDO office.
He said the training classes were held from August 7 to 12 and the officials have not allowed the 86 candidates to attend the classes. The lawyer said that though the issue was taken to the notice of District Collector, no justice was done to the candidates.
