GSLV F-10 Launch Rehearsals will begin today under MRR at Satish Dhawan Space Centre
Ahead of the launch of GSAT 1 satellite into orbit through GSLV F10 on Thursday, the Satish Dhawan Space Research Centre has made arrangements to launch the satellite carrier from Satish Dhawan Space Center (SHAR) in Nellore district. It will be dispatched from the second launch site in SHAR at 5.43 pm on March 5.
GSAT-1 is important for the country's defence system and disaster information. This remote sensing satellite is being sent into orbit for the first time.
Process of launch
On Tuesday, Launch Rehearsals will be held under the MRR (Mission Readiness Review) Committee followed by Mission preparedness meeting under the auspices of MRR Chairman BN Suresh and Katuri Narayana at Brahmaprakash Hall on Wednesday.
After rehearsals under lab chairman Armugam Rajarajan, the countdown begins at 3.43 pm on Wednesday and the second phase of the process of filling 42.21 tonnes of liquid fuel also begins.
On Thursday, at 5.43 pm GSAT 1 will be launched into orbit.
This is the fourteenth flight of the GSLV operating from geostationary orbit, which will facilitate near real-time observation of the Indian subcontinent, under cloud-free condition, at frequent intervals.
