Guntur: 338 check-posts set up to stop liquor transport said V Lakshma Reddy
Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Madya Vimochana Prachara Committee chairman V Lakshma Reddy informed that the State government has set up 338 check-posts at the State borders to check illegal transport of liquor from the neighbouring states.
He addressed a press conference in Guntur on Friday.
He said they will increase staff and reduce belt shops in the state. The state government has to pay Rs 1,600 crore to the companies supplying various brands of liquor. Comparing to last year, IML sales fell by 24.37 per cent and beer sales by 58.10 per cent. They booked 7,805 cases for operating belt shops and arrested 8046 accused in the cases.
Deputy Commissioner of Excise K Srinivas and Excise Superintendent Balakrishna were among those participated.
