Guntur: 8 Class X students test positive for coronavirus

Guntur: As many as eight students studying in Class X in the Munagapadu Zilla Parishad High School under Phirangipuram mandal of Guntur district tested positive for coronavirus.

Following instructions of the district administration, Medical and Health Department officials on Sunday conducted Covid-19 tests on 33 10 th Class students in the school. Test reports said, eight students were infected with Covid-19. They have no coronavirus positive symptoms. The School Education Department officials instructed the students tested positive for coronavirus to go for home quarantine till they recover.

At present, the School Education department is conducting the classes for 9th and 10th students. Classes started for 8th class students from Monday. The Medical and Health department officials are trying to trace primary contacts of the Covid-19 patients to check spread of Covid-19. District Education Officer RS Ganga Bhavani said, "Eight students studying Class 10 in the Munagapadu ZPHS were infected with the Covid. They have no Covid-19 symptoms. Headmasters are conducting thermal screening at the school gate and allowing the students.

We are maintaining social distance in the classrooms and creating awareness among the students. I have directed the officials to sanitize all the rooms in the Munagapadu ZPHS in the Phirangipuram mandal of Guntur district as a precautionary measure. Except in Munagapadu ZPHS, coronavirus positive cases have not been registered in the government schools in the district."
