Guntur: Call to make total prohibition a success

Guntur: Madya Vimochana Prachara Committee chairman V Lakshmana Rao sought the cooperation of the people's representatives to make 'total prohibition in a phased manner' a success. He addressed a meeting held in the NGOs Home in Narasaraopet Town in Guntur district on Sunday.

He said that the Excise Department booked cases against those running 256 belt shops and seized 25 vehicles. He reminded that the boozers of the State had spent Rs 40,000 crore during the last year. He said the government will use services of SHGs, ward and village volunteers to implement total prohibition in a phased manner.

Narasimha Reddy, Assistant Excise Superintendent Madhu Babu were also present on the occasion.
