Jagananna Vidya Kanuka kits to be distributed to 39.7lakh students in government schools

Guntur: The State government is making arrangements to distribute kits under Jagananna Vidya Kanuka to the students of the government schools on the day of reopening for the academic year 2020-21. As many as 39.7 lakh students from class 1 to 10 in the government schools will get this kit consisting of cloth for stitching three pairs of school uniform, textbooks, notebooks, shoes and two pairs of socks, a belt and a school bag.

According to sources, about 20.38 lakh girl students and 19.32 lakh boys will be benefited under the scheme. The government is spending Rs.650.6 crore to implement the scheme. The kits will be distributed through the parents' committees at the schools.

The State government and the Central government will bear the cost of kits. However, for the 9th and 10 class students in the government schools, the State government will bear the cost of the kits.

The school headmasters urged the students to come to schools on June 8 and 9 between 8 am and 12 noon to give measurements for the footwear. They sent message to the parents to that effect.

The Municipal School Teachers Federation State president S Rama Krishna felt that Jagananna Vidya Kanuka will be useful to students and reduce financial burden on parents.

He expressed confidence that Amma Vodi and Jagananna Vidya Kanuka will improve admissions in the government schools from the academic year 2020-21.
