Guntur; Police seize over 16,000 spurious liquor bottles, arrest 18

Guntur : Guntur rural police arrested 19 persons and recovered 16,128 spurious liquor bottles at Uppalapadu village of Veldurti mandal in Guntur district on Sunday. The accused transported spurious liquor from Maharashtra. The value of seized liquor was pegged at Rs35 lakh. They seized a JCB Poclain and a lorry used to illegally transport the liquor bottles.

According to Guntur Rural SP Vishal Gunni, out of 19 accused, so far they have arrested 18 accused. Twelve accused hailed from Gundlapadu, Uppalapadu, three were native of Telangana, two from Madhya Pradesh and two were residents of Karnataka.

The arrested include prime accused Sangamesh, other accused Arif, Irfan, Vijay Bhatle and they were remanded. Vijaya Bhatle getting bottles from Arif from Madhya Pradesh and making spurious liquor in Nipani on Karnataka-Maharashtra border.

Macherla SEB inspector Konda Reddy arrested accused Srinu and Kalluri Kondalu at Gundlapadla village under Veldurti mandal and seized 51 liquor bottles from their possession. They confirmed that they seized spurious liquor bottles.

When police interrogated the accused how they got the spurious liquor bottles, they learned that P Rambabu and GKondalu had supplied the liquor bottles to make a fast buck. They approached G Madhusudhana Reddy of Nalgonda for liquor bottles. They met Vijaya Reddy and Bal Reddy of Hyderabad city. They planned to get liquor from Maharashtra available at lower price to earn quick money. They got 490 boxes of liquor containing 23,520 spurious liquor bottles. They sold some stocks.

They kept the liquor bottles stock at various places. The police seized 10,934 spurious bottles of liquor bottles at a poultry at Uppalapadu belonging to China Moulali. They seized 6288 liquor bottles kept in the poultry farm. The police unearthed the 4645 spurious liquor bottles buried in the ground near the poultry farm.
