Guntur: Private school teachers yet to get April salary
Guntur: Most private schools and convents have not paid salaries to teachers for April month. There is no chance to pay salaries for May also due to lockdown. As a result, the teachers working in private schools are facing financial problems and unable to feed their families, pay house rents and meet day-to-day expenses. Despite this hard time, the school managements in the state are forcing the teachers to work online from 7 am to 6 pm.
P Siva Kumari, a teacher working in the private school, said, "Though schools have closed due to lockdown and summer, I am giving home work to students on WhatsApp and correcting the home work. I am teaching lessons to students online, In spite of it, I did not get salary for the month of April. School managements are not ready to pay salary for May also."
Another school teacher on the condition of anonymity said, the government has already directed to pay salaries to teachers for April. She lamented that the Education department officials are colluding with the private educational institutions and not taking steps to pressurise them to pay salaries to the teachers.
The Education department officials should mount pressure on the school managements to pay salaries.
District Education Officer RS Ganga Bhavani said, "This problem has come to my notice. I will issue notices to the private schools and convents to pay salaries for the month of April."
