Governor reviews operational capabilities of Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan was accorded a warm welcome at the airport when he arrived in Visakhapatnam on a two-day visit on Wednesday.
District Collector V Vinay Chand, Police Commissioner RK Meena and navy officials were among those who received the Governor at the airport.
Biswabhushan Harichandan went to INS Dega from the airport wherein he interacted with the naval officials.
In his maiden visit to the Eastern Naval Command, Biswabhusan Harichandan was received by Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ENC Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain at INS Dega wherein the Governor reviewed a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
He held discussion with the naval officers and was given a comprehensive briefing on the capabilities of the Indian Navy and the role and responsibilities of the ENC.
The Governor was taken by boat as part of the harbour familiarisation sortie which was followed by a visit to the indigenously built stealth frigate INS Shivalik and a submarine where the Governor was given a guided tour and an overview on the operational capabilities of the frontline units of the Indian Navy.
As part of the day's schedule, the Governor visited Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Central Park on a battery-operated vehicle. He watched the musical fountain set up there and participated in the various cultural programmes organised on the occasion. Chief Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena, VMRDA Commissioner P Koteswara Rao, Joint Collector L Siva Sankar, among other officials were present.
He also went to Telugu Museum atop Kailasagiri and went around the museum.
