Handloom expo draws crowds in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Shilparamam Handloom Expo being organised at Krishna District Ricemillers Association here has been drawing huge crowds with its latest contemporary designs.

Handloom weavers from various districts from all over the State presented their modern designer dress material and sarees for the delight of visitors. Since the weavers are personally participating in the expo, and offering the produce at reasonable prices, there has been tremendous response from public, Shilapramam CEO B Jairaj said in a statement here on Saturday.

The latest design sarees include from Uppada, Dharmavaram, Pochampalli, Venkatagiri are attracting the visitors, said Joga Rao, assistant director of Central Weavers Cooperative Society. The expo includes dress material from Chirala and Mangalagiri and Khadi dress material from Srikakulam and Kalamkari material, he said.

The expo which is being organised by Andhra Pradesh Shilparamam Arts and Crafts Society with the financial aid by Union Ministry of Handloom and Textiles would continue till November 12, he said.
